The eye surgeons of Westwood Ophthalmology in Bergen County, New Jersey have been performing refractive surgery for over 40 years and have a long understanding of how the eye responds to vision correcting surgery. Most of our doctors have completed a one-year fellowship training in refractive surgery where they learned from some of the world's leading surgeons and now currently teach other eye surgeons in New Jersey the intricacies of eye surgery. In addition, our office has performed more cataract surgery and laser vision corrections in the Pascack Valley area than any other center.  Our eye surgeons are often selected to participate in FDA studies putting them at the cutting edge of new technologies and helping provide additional experience for developed treatments.

Jeffrey S. Kaiden, M.D.

Before Dr. Kaiden joined his brother Richard in practice in 1978, he studied at some of the most prestigious institutions in the nation. A graduate of Cornell University and the University of Florida Medical School, he completed his medical training at the University of Connecticut and his ophthalmology training at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York.

Dr. Jeffrey Kaiden became board certified in 1978. Since then, he has been an active member of the local medical community, serving as Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Pascack Valley Hospital and as President of the General Active Staff and on the Board of Trustees. In addition, he is involved in teaching ophthalmology to aspiring medical students.

Dr. Kaiden has a special interest in glaucoma and has published a number of scientific articles and lectured to community groups, as well as scientific audiences. He was the ophthalmologist for the New Jersey Nets basketball team and for the New York Giants football team when they won their first two Super Bowls. He is a long time resident of the Pascack Valley area and enjoys playing golf and traveling.

Patrick K. Chin, M.D.

Dr. Chin, a native of New Jersey, joined our laser eye surgery practice in Westwood, New Jersey in 1995. After graduating from the highly renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the New Jersey Medical School, he finished his Ophthalmology training at New York University. In order to fine tune his surgical skills, Dr. Chin completed a fellowship in cataract and refractive surgery at the Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary, Canada.

Dr. Patrick Chin is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He was an assistant professor at NYU where he was involved with teaching eye surgery to future ophthalmologists. He has been performing laser vision correction and eye surgery in New Jersey since 1994. He handles many complex cases and is one of the first eye surgeons in New Jersey to use the "no needle" cataract surgery technique. He has published numerous scientific articles and lectured extensively at scientific conferences as well as taught many eye surgeons throughout New Jersey advanced cataract surgery techniques and laser vision correction. In his spare time, Dr. Chin is an avid triathlete and has completed several Ironman distance races. He also enjoys skiing and scuba diving with his family.

Michael S. Fleischer, M.D.

Dr. Michael Fleischer, a native of Fairlawn, New Jersey, joined the practice in 1999. Dr. Fleischer graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a B.S. degree in biochemistry.  He received his medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School before completing an Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Fleischer is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and performs state-of-the-art cataract surgery.  He treats a wide range of eye disorders including diabetes and inflammatory conditions.  Dr. Fleischer lives in Bergen County with his wife and two boys and enjoys the outdoors.

Glen M. Bianchi, M.D.

Dr. Glen Bianchi joined Westwood Ophthalmology Associates in 2004. A graduate of Harvard University and State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine, he completed his ophthalmology training at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Bianchi completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Bianchi is also a Clinical Instructor at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York where he teaches pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery to the ophthalmology residents. He welcomes infants and children of all ages, and also has a special interest in the surgical needs of adults with muscle imbalances. He is an avid golfer and runner and enjoys living in the Pascack Valley region.

James Kirszrot, M.D.

Dr. James Kirszrot, a native of New York and New Jersey, joined Westwood Ophthalmology Associates in 2011 specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids. He graduated from Cornell University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After completing his ophthalmology training at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, he went on to do a two year fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kirszrot is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and performs many types of cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries of the eyelids and orbit including BOTOX® Cosmetic and Restylane®. He is an avid scuba diver and skier and enjoys living in Manhattan with his wife and two children.

Brenda Pagan-Duran, M.D.

Dr. Brenda Pagan-Duran joined Westwood Ophthalmology Associates in 2007. A graduate of Harvard University and the University of Puerto Rico Medical School, Dr. Pagan-Duran completed her Ophthalmology training at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. She was the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in East Orange, New Jersey and an Assistant Professor at UMDNJ. Dr. Pagan-Duran provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family. She lives in the Pascack Valley with her husband and three children and enjoys traveling in her spare time.

Jung S. Lee, M.D.

Dr. Jung Lee joined Westwood Ophthalmology Associates in 2008. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Boston University. After completing his ophthalmology training at the State University of New York-Downstate, he went on to complete a fellowship in cornea, external disease and LASIK refractive surgery at Johns Hopkins' Wilmer Eye Institute.

He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and previously served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in East Orange, NJ. He currently holds a position at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School as Clinical Assistant Professor.  Dr. Lee performs no-stitch cataract surgery, LASIK, and corneal transplants. He currently resides in the area and enjoys baseball, football, fitness training and spending time with his wife and two children.

Irene Tran, O.D.

Dr. Irene Tran joined Westwood Ophthalmology Associates in 2014. Raised in New Jersey, she graduated from The College of New Jersey and was the valedictorian of her class at the SUNY College of Optometry. She then completed a residency in ocular disease management where she received extensive training in treating patients with glaucoma, cataract, and other ocular disorders. In addition, she served as an assistant clinical instructor at the SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. Tran provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family and performs all types of contact lens fittings. In her spare time, she enjoys running, playing volleyball and exploring new cuisines.

Christopher Orr, M.D.

Christopher Orr, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with experience in cornea, cataract and external disease. He graduated magna cum laude from Drexel University combined seven year BS/MD program. He finished his residency in ophthalmology at State University of New York Downstate, and then completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the Mount Sinai Hospital. After fellowship, Dr. Orr thrived in a successful ophthalmology office in Connecticut before moving to New Jersey in order to live closer to his family.

Dr. Orr specializes in performing topical, suture-less, clear corneal cataract surgery; Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery; corneal transplants; and laser vision correction. He has a special interest in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. When he is not in the office, Dr Orr stays active by swimming, running, cycling and playing tennis
